New space!

chescaltcDecided to create this account after realizing I don't really have a space to share the goings-on in my life comfortably the way the internet used to with blogs. Social media is just not cutting it for me...too many people I know irl are on twitter and instagram, and creating a private account sadly just always ends up with me not using it. Since I'm feeling a bit nostalgic and out-of-touch with tech lately, maybe dreamwidth will finally be my personal pitstop whenever I feel like reflecting.
Also fandom stuff! Still kinda want to have a sense of community here and not be a hermit residing in an internet cave so I might use this for sharing fanart concepts and maybe some process stuff that doesn't get uploaded on tumblr. We'll see how it goes!
Life updates
Got my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine yesterday and woke up with a practically dead left arm. I originally wasn't supposed to even have a vaccine appointment until late this year/early next year, but by some miracle my parents were able to get Sinovac via walk-in and their original slots were given to me and my older brother. Honestly just very lucky and grateful, since vaccine availability is limited and rollout has been rather slow. Scheduled to have my second dose on July 20th and hopefully everything works out!
Grad school application
Good lord this process started way back in April and finally, finallyyyyy finished the last leg last Monday (June 28). They gave me a week to submit two academic writing samples and I sent my undergrad thesis then wrote a new one, since I didn't think any of the stuff I had was good enough (I'm applying in the country's top university don't ask me how I had the balls to do this ok!!!). Last Monday was the final one, a three-hour essay exam which ultimately fried my brain. I uhhhhhhh, did the best I could but I honestly have no idea what my chances are. Results will be e-mailed sometime this July and I'm a nervous wreck but ya know we deal!!! *stress eats jalapeno cheetos*

Now I'm off to read some bedtime fanfic. Feels really nice to be blogging like this again though and hoping to see more of DW soon!

Job hunt
Nothing to report since I put everything on hold until I finished the MA stuff. Looking to pick it up again this month and film some teaching demos once I get my shit together lmao. Sometimes it's tempting to apply for art positions since freelance isn't nearly enough to support myself but...I know I'll regret it once I'm there so I'm doing the adult thing and sticking to my guns!!!
Currently Watching
Oh I just adore Designing Women! I only made it to season 3 years ago and decided to finish the series this time around. Currently on season 2 and still, STILL in love with Julia Sugarbaker y'all. Clearly I have a type.Now I'm off to read some bedtime fanfic. Feels really nice to be blogging like this again though and hoping to see more of DW soon!
